Despite losing the toss in Harare, Bangladesh batted first and scored 284 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Later, the bowlers bundled out Zimbabwe, who came out to chase, for 124 runs in 35 overs. In Bangladesh’s batting, after opener Jawad Abrar returned for 5 runs at the beginning, Rifat Baig and captain Azizul Hakim formed a partnership to take the team ahead. The 112-run partnership was broken when Azizul was dismissed for 34 runs off 65 balls. Opener Rifat scored a half-century.
